in Bronze, Marble and Ceramic.
There is a long history of ceramic art in almost all developed cultures, and often ceramic objects are all the artistic evidence left from vanished cultures, like that of the Nok in Africa over 2,000 years ago.
The technique Van de Griend uses to make her sculpture is not a common one in the field of ceramic art. She approaches the clay as a sculptor would approach his stone, from the outside inward. Her work is often referred to as a Modern Interpretation of the Old Masters.

ART FOR GOLD collects Gold in exchange for Art in order to make one art piece out of the collected gold and donate this to the South African National Museum of Contemporary Art in Cape Town.
With Art for Gold Van de Griend translates a dark part of the Dutch Colonial History in a modern way and questions the humanity and value of Art and Gold.
ARE YOU THE NEXT MAECENAS?
In search to find the next Maecenas is a series of large charcoal drawings that questions the
current situation in the Arts and opens the discussion of the position of Art and the Artists.
Van de Griend draws a line between the colonial Dutch past in the Golden Age and current times.
